Today, I would like to share a great vacation spot with you. Lake Whitney has been officially designated as "The Official Getaway Capital of Texas"! Enjoy camping, lots of public access for fishing, lots of public boat ramps for boating, hunting, sight-seeing, scuba diving, wildlife, bird-watching, sailing, swimming, We have the color changes in fall, we have year-round wildlife, we have golf, we have facilities here for corporate retreats, hotels, motels, lodges, and other accomodations in both Hill and Bosque County, and much more. The natural beauty of Lake Whitney is one of the area’s many assets. The lake offers 225 miles of shoreline and 37 square miles of water, is 45 river-miles long, and is up to four miles wide. Whitney is all limestone, so it consists of all deep, blue water, and there is nowhere near as much watercraft traffic as other popular lakes. The lake was the place to go in the 1950s and 1960s, but then they built all those other lakes up in the Dallas/Ft.Worth Metroplex, and Lake Whitney was sort of forgotten. This lake is not overpopulated with people, so it is the perfect lake! I do hope that more folks get the chance to visit the lake. I love it here and it is a wonderful home too! I am a proud member of the community. Thanks, for taking the time to read my post!

My kind of lake. Pretty, deep blue water, lots of room to fish and not saturated with people and water skiers etc. Sounds like good stuff to me. If only I were down your way ....

ReplyDeleteWe have some great lakes in the UK - I'm going to be kayaking my way round the Lake District in 3 weeks & who knows, I might even catch some fish ;0).
Last year we camped out at Lake Ullswater & we were the only people for miles around; our closest company was sheep - it was so peaceful it was AMAZING!
Nice lake - I love the "overlooked" places. I've added your blog as a favorite on my blog. Feel free to comment on content or style - it's how we all get better.
